Capillary moisture

The most effective way to treat capillary moisture is to inject dedicated masses.

DRACO waterproofing systems will stop capillary moisture so that your health is not endangered and your homes are safe for you to use.

Capillary moisture break

Moisture is one of the biggest problems in any residential or commercial building. So called. capillary moisture differs from the usual occurrence of damp walls. It is a relatively rare form of moisture that acts on the walls of buildings on which waterproofing has not been made or performed with quality.

Although capillary moisture is characteristic of old buildings, since builders at that time were not familiar with bitumen and other waterproof materials, moisture can also occur in new buildings in cases of poorly executed, damaged or dilapidated waterproofing.

When moisture from the soil travels through the walls, there are pores of materials used in construction (plaster, stone, brick, concrete). Due to the surface tension of water, moisture rises along a small capillary located in the walls, hence the name capillary moisture. Capillary action means an increase in moisture in the capillaries as opposed to gravity.

Rehabilitation of damp walls

In order to successfully solve the problem and repair damp walls, you must first identify the cause of the moisture. The source of moisture should always be thoroughly investigated as an incorrect diagnosis can lead to further damage and unnecessary costs. If in doubt, be sure to consult an expert.

One of the most common signs that indicate the appearance of capillary moisture are damp spots caused by water evaporation and the action of salt from the soil. Wet spots are usually yellowish or brown in color, and you will notice them at a height of up to 1 meter above the molding.

If you notice the appearance of black mold appearing above the level of the molding, it is a clear sign that there is some form of moisture on that part of the wall. It is important to specify that capillary moisture occurs only at ground level because it is the moisture from the soil that is extracted by the walls. In case you have moisture problems and you are on the first floor, you may have a condensation problem instead.

If you allow the capillary moisture problem to last too long, it will penetrate deep into the walls. In addition to wallpaper and paint, they will begin to loosen and moldings or will change under the influence of high concentrations of minerals and crystals coming from the ground and ending up in your walls.

Capillary moisture treatment

Mold and fungus create a very unhealthy environment for you and your family. They can affect the respiratory system or cause a number of other health problems such as allergies or asthma. In addition, damp walls also attract mosquitoes, ants and other pests.

The most effective way to treat capillary moisture is to inject dedicated masses. For capillary moisture breaks, materials are used that close the smallest pores in the cross section of the wall with their properties and prevent the penetration of moisture and salt through the walls. Moisture remediation with coatings involves removing all loosely bonded parts to the base and reprofiling all unevenness with DRACO FIX 120 or DRACO FIX 140 repair mortar. DRACO LASTIC 120 polymer coating is applied to the substrate prepared in this way with DRACO PRIMO 100 primer.

DRACO waterproofing systems will take care of the complete repair of damaged surfaces, their preparation and stopping capillary moisture so that your health is not endangered.
